Release of SGS Battle for Gettysburg

We are releasing today Vincent Bernard's SGS Battle for: Gettysburg which is an epic rendering of this most famous US Civil War battle using the SGS engine, in the scope of the Battle Series collection.

Vincent has already produced many SGS games (Overlord, Bulge and Avalanche on WW2 thematics, and SGS Battle for Fort Donelson in the Battle Series) and, among his many talents, is a renowned historian and a French specialist of the American Civil War, a conflict he has covered with quite a few acclaimed books.

The game has all the features of the Battle Series, and allows replay of this great battle, either in full or in limited scenarios covering only parts or moments of the battle. The fight and lull during dusk and night are also included.

Steam delays for SGS Ashes of Dawn

We have been struggling with Steam's "censorship bureau" for weeks now. In practice, the game build has been constantly rejected multiple times, partly due to the bots checking content and partly for some recurrent demands from the review team there. The points raised for rejection are that we have images containing adult content, and also they were made with AI assistance.

We indeed said and stated that, which is why Steam categorized the game as mature-content and, basically, 18+ category. AI was used to make images homogeneous, but not to create them. Nevertheless, there are always reasons for failure in the reviews and we are under the impression we are running circles here.

Latest Steam request is to remove all images with content they disapprove, which is, under constraint, the task that has been undertaken now by the designer. It unfortunately affects 40% of the content, so this is going to take some time...and still no guarantee Steam will grant authorization despite our compliance.

As a consequence, there is no way to know when the game will release officially, as the matter is no longer in our hands. The weird thing is that the page of the game has been approved and that beta keys (the ones you get when you purchase the beta version on the website) are working fine.
So stay tuned...

American Independance 250th anniversary

To celebrate the event, we shall publish a major patch for our SGS We the People at the end of the month, in time for the 4th of July. In addition to the usual debug and other corrections that are currently being tested, the game will offer an extra Campaign scenario, covering the last part of the war from the spring of 1778, just before French entry in the conflict.

Other developments

Hopefully, the development of other projects is going on. The main one is SGS Burning Banners, where most of the content is done (database and art) but is now waiting for important code improvement so that the engine can cope with the very specific aspects this heroic-fantasy title will have. We still plan to have some rather well-developped beta version playable by mid of July.

SGS Vietnam War is also progressing well. We have created a small 2-turns scenario (Operation Hastings, I-Corps, July-August 1966) that will, hopefully, be playable as a sort of demo of the game during the next Fest event on Steam mid-June 2026

The SGS NATO's Nightmare major patch update is still in the work, with Aetius having resumed the task after returning from his sick leave.

Change of scope for SGS Samurai Battles

We had long exchanges with Philippe Hardy, the French wargame designer who created the Samurai Battles boardgames. We concur on the fact that finely rendering the tactical details and behavior on the battlefield of Japan at the time will be an almost impossible task and will probably disappoint the players. Therefore we have decided to keep the game in the catalog, but to change the scope totally, to become a grand strategy game, covering the wars and campaigns of the Sengoku Jidai era on a larger scale. It will become a grand strategy title in the vein of Taipings or Imjin War. Conversion might take some time though, so we can accept that it can disappoint our early buyers, either because of the change of scope (from tactical to strategic) or the probable extra delay (the game would, at best, be ready in 2028).

The product sheet will be adjusted soon.

If you are a buyer of this title and unsatisfied with the change, let us know. We can either reimburse your purchase or have it shifted to another ongoing game.

SGS Battle for Gettysburg : update 1

Here is the changelog for our first update for SGS Battle for Gettysburg : - New alternative campaign scenario, to be tested as a variation of the standard game: only leaders can attack, and units can no longer take cover except using “trench” tokens. This is intended to offer players an alternative that is slightly less dynamic but perhaps more …
